Professors Wanted! Help Cultivate the Next Generation of Building Scientists

Jump Into STEM Professors

JUMP into STEM is kicking off the 2022–2023 season and is seeking university and college professors to join the competition’s Professor Team

What is JUMP into STEM?

JUMP into STEM is a university and college student competition that is inspiring the next generation of building scientists and encouraging diversity in the field. Student teams participate in the real world learning experience by submitting written responses to challenges. Three new challenges impacting the current state of building science are released each August.

Challenge-level winners are matched with mentors in their field of interest. Eligible teams are then invited to present at the Final Event. This season’s Final Event is scheduled to be held in-person at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado. Final Event student winners receive a 10-week paid summer internship at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, or Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

What is the Professor Team?

Members of the Professor Team are a critical link connecting students with the competition. They help shape the challenges to best fit with their curriculum requirements and are invited to monthly meetings to receive competition updates and discuss best practices with the Professor Team network.

This is the perfect opportunity to meet service-related metrics, form a connection with the U.S. Department of Energy and its national laboratories, and make a meaningful impact on building science education.
