Valencia College has created a Commercial Building Automation System Controls Laboratory Classroom that contains a full-sized Commercial Building Air Handler Unit, a Boiler, Fan Coil Units, Variable Air Volume Boxes, and various Building Automation System controls vendor equipment. This lab is where students complete all EMCT AS degree courses.

Local Central Florida Building Automation Systems Industry Professionals make up the Faculty Members that teach the courses within the AS degree program along with an active Industry Advisory Council that strongly supports the EMCT AS degree program and its success within the Central Florida community.

Valencia College’s EMCT Industry Advisory Council is comprised of approximately 30 members from various companies within the Central Florida area ranging from controls vendors such as Trane, Automated Logic, Siemens, Honeywell, and Johnson Controls to commercial building owners such as hospitals and theme parks.

Yes. A building automation systems industry related internship is required and makes up 3 credit hours towards the completion of Valencia College’s EMCT AS degree.

Students will receive 12 college credits toward the completion of their EMCT AS degree for completing the HVAC/R programs at Lake Technical College Orange Technical College, Osceola Technical College, and Southern Technical College. Students who complete an approved HVAC program from another institution may also be eligible to receive credit toward Valencia College’s EMCT AS degree program.

EMCT graduates may choose to complete Valencia College’s Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Business and Organizational Leadership which will accept students’ entire EMCT AS degree.
