CREATE SUSTAINS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WITH VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS
The Center for Renewable Energy Advanced Technological Education (CREATE) at Madison Area Technical College in Wisconsin used ATE funds to create and ship kits of equipment to each of the registered participants of its 2021 STEM Educator Virtual Solar Institute and 13 virtual workshops it offered with KidWind during the pandemic.
Twenty-five people from 10 states attended the virtual solar institute this year. When the institutes were in person in the past they could accommodate only 20 people, and most attendees were from the Midwest.
Of the 123 teachers from 35 states who attended the 13 virtual workshops on wind power, solar power and the power grid, 93 were women, and 15% were from underrepresented populations. Participants hailed from 35 states.
